Based on the '04 election, I thought military experience didn't mean you were an expert on war. Why in '08...

does military experience all of the sudden make you an expert on war and foreign policy? I always thought it was supposed to be better to have been AWOL like Bush than a war hero like Kerry. How come the shift in '08?
